Replanting Our Trees For Survival

Room 18 had a very important job today; we "pricked out" and replanted over two hundred tiny flax seedlings, as part of the Trees For Survival programme.

We worked so carefully as a team. Mrs Daniel was also very impressed with our problem solving skills; we worked out with 16 crates and each crate holding 52 seedlings, Senior students, Room 17 and 18 together, have replanted 832 seedlings. WOW!!

Why are we doing all of this? Well, in 12 months time, we'll have over eight hundred plants to create new habitats, prevent errosion and help fight global warming in our local area. We're doing vital work to create a sustainable future!

  2. It was a very fun day at Sunnyhills school because we got to 'prick out' and put some baby seedlings of flax into some root trainers because they didn't have anymore space to grow. It was a very slow process. We had to be extra careful and gentle because if we touched the roots of the flax it would not grow. We did this because of global warming as it will get more hotter because of the greenhouse gases. To stop this from happening we have to grow new plants as part of the programme 'Trees For Survival.' I thought it was a very fun day with Mrs Daniel exploring nature. What about you?

  3. It was a super amazing day for room 18 when Mrs daniel came to teach us about seeds and how they grow. This was called prick out. we planted flax in seed trainers first. We had to be careful when we planted them in because if we touched the root they would not grow well. In total we planted 823 seedlings. We are helping the envoroiment during this because the global warming. It was fantastic! Room 18 did very well. I had so much fun. How about you?

  4. That looks so much fun Room 18 , Why did you do that? Also, what type of plants did you plant and why those type of plants? Also, did you plant multiple types of plants? If so, how many different types? What was your favourite part of planting the plants?

  5. Amazing replanting of the seeds, Room 18! It's great that as well as planting the seeds again, it was like a mini maths lesson as well! What else did you learn during that time with Mrs Daniel and if you did, what was it?
